Lettice & Lovage - January 2007

“Enlarge, Enliven and Enlighten” your life at the Haifa English Theatre’s production of Peter Shaffer’s comedy Lettice & Lovage

This winner of two Tony Awards was originally written for Dame Maggie Smith, who wrote HET,
I do hope it is all a great success.”
The Daily Telegraph called it “an original, highly entertaining comedy” and
Time Out said this was the British playwright’s “lightest, wittiest and most accessible play.”

Lettice (Bertha Cafrey) an imaginative tour guide, and Charlotte (Valerie Herbert) a straight-laced inspector, develop an unlikely friendship as they defy mediocrity and seek magic in their lives.
Adding to the plot are the timid Trust secretary (Hallit Sorek) and a very stuffy lawyer
(Murray Rosovsky) who falls under Lettice's spell.

Also appearing are John Dicks, Melodi Fanaiyan, David Friedlander, Celia Kelman, Sylvia Lippa,
Yossi Lippa, Hazel Packer, Xandrine Schwartz, Cora Tresman and Dana Lynne Weil.

Directed by Ruth Willner, it will be performed at the Beit Hagefen Auditorium,
33 Zionism, Haifa on January 11, 13, 18, 20 at 20:30 with a matinee at 17:30
on 16 January.
